The Town of Purple Heaven

Initially, The Town of Purple Heaven was called 'Cat Village' by many of our members, as it was initiated and designed by our designer 'Maoer_Ovo'. In Chinese, this nickname means 'Cat Ears'. After a few month into the design, Maoer decided to invite more people into this project, and thus expanded this project into a large town now called 'The Town of Purple Heaven.' The project's main aim is to develop an adventure map but at the same time a visually stunning piece of art.

Cultural Context
In China, the Heaven is also sometimes called as Purple Heaven. In the Chinese culture, it is widely believed that auspicious luck is related to the color of purple. The Emperor of China sometime wears cloth that is purple, as it is one of the rarest colors in ancient times. One of the most famous architecture examples is the 'Forbidden Palace' of China, also well known in its full name '紫禁城 (Purple Forbidden Palace)'. Purple is something auspicious, and otherworldly, and here we want this town to also be something you would not expect in reality.
Design
This town, designed as an adventure map, allows players to explore the culture it withholds and the secret lay below (if you can find them!). The player will be able to explore over a vast majority of shops, restaurants, and hotels. Beware though, as some of the areas will be dangerous and kept out of reach for outsiders as traps are laid to prevent looters stealing from the locals. Site-seeing wise, the map contains many areas which you can find breathtaking, including the Purple Heavenly temple that withholds many treasures from the East!
What this meant for us
The Town of Purple Heaven is an adventure map we made to sharpen our skills in adventure map designs. The adventure map genre was a brand new area when we first started, and after a whole year of work, we gradually learned from our experiences on how to create a map that players can enjoy. We focus on details like rooms where the player can interact with NPC, and other areas like dungeons, where there will be challenges and the explorable regions to find surprising treasures that lie below some structures. We want people to see this place not only enjoyable visually, but also interactive. Afterall, the experience has to be otherworldly!
